One of the most important parts of a vehicle are definitely the tyres. They are the only direct link between a vehicle and the road surface. Tyres have the key role in regards to driving stability and cornering of a vehicle. Therefore, you should make sure, you are purchasing the right tyres for your vehicle.

When should I buy new tyres?
Expert studies suggest vehicle tyres must be replaced every three to four years.
This rule depends on how many miles driven, on the age of the tyres (counting from the time of manufacture). You should always pay attention to the DOT on a tyre. It tells you exactly when a tyre was produced. Very important is also the tread depth and the condition of the material. Are your tyres already looking a bit porous? Does the tyre’s profile look too low?
There is an easy way to check the tread depth of your vehicle’ tyres:
The “20p test”. Simply take 20p and stick the coin into the tyre’s tread grooves. If you cannot see the outside edge of the 20p, the tyres are still legally above the limit. Otherwise, it’s time to purchase new tyres.
But please note, the legal requirement of tread depth is only 1.6 mm, which in our opinion as well as all other expert’s opinion is far too low to ensure a safe drive.
Which tyres should I buy?
There is a huge variety of vehicle tyres available on the market, so it can be very confusing to find the ones that are right for you.
Many vehicle owners want to go for a specific brand, which is fine in general, but you should also take the following points into consideration:
So firstly, you should think about what kind of tyres you need.
- What are the weather conditions like, where you live?
- What are the road conditions like where you drive most of the time?
- What kind of vehicle do you have?
- How many miles do you drive approx. per year?
- What’s your driving style (do prefer to drive fast or rather a moderate speed)?
When purchasing new tyres, you may also pay attention to specific characteristics of a tyre, like for example the rolling noise? The best possible traction in aquaplaning situations etc.
You see, there a quite a few things to consider – especially when you buy new tyres for the first time.
